The following are some frequently asked questions regarding ordering wine from the GWT Wine Store.  Please contact us if your questions are not answered here.

  1. Q.Why should I order wine from the Global Wine Tour Wine Store?

  2. A.We carry many wines that are not available at the LCBO.  The LCBO is only one store with limited shelf space.  This results in a limited choice for the consumer.  Global Wine Tour and Amethyst Wine Agency have sourced high quality wines from wine makers around the world, the vast majority of them not available at the LCBO.  This increases your choice in the wines you enjoy and we are proud to bring you additional options!  You also get a level of personal service when you order through us, as we want to build a long lasting relationship with our customers.  For example, when we host special tasting events by international wine makers, only our customers, whom we want to think of as our friends, will be invited to these exclusive events!

  3. Q.What about Vintages?  They offer additional variety and choice, don’t they?

  4. A.Yes, Vintages brings you new product every 6 weeks.  The problem with the Vintages business model is what happens when you find something you really enjoy, and want to buy more at a later date?  The answer to that question is that they won’t have it anymore, and you are now forced to get something else.  The GWT Wine Store will enable you to buy more of your favourite wines at a later date (subject to availability), as we do private orders directly with the winemakers.

  5. Q.Can I buy just one or two bottles from the GWT Wine Store?

  6. A.Wine agents in Ontario are prohibited from selling wines through individual bottles.  By law, purchases through a wine agent must be done by the case.  Most cases are 12 bottles, but some cases from European wine makers are only 6 bottles in size.  Details on the case sizes are shown on the wine listing.

  7. Q.Can I mix a case with different wines from the same wine maker?

  8. A.We only currently offer this option through our exclusive VQA Ontario wine supplier, Mountain Road Wine Company.  This option may be possible in the future with other wine makers, and this page will be update if and when this occurs.

  9. Q.Can I order a case together with my friend or family member?

  10. A.By law, one person’s name must be on the order form.  What you choose to do with the wine after you have received it is not our business!

  11. Q.Can I pay by credit card?

  12. A.We only offer this payment option with our Ontario supplier, Mountain Road Wine Company ad and Archibald Orchards.  All other wine orders are payable either in cash or cheque upon delivery.

  13. Q.Do you deliver the wines to my home or place of business?

  14. A.Yes, we will deliver the wines to your place of choosing.

  15. Q.Will I have the opportunity to taste any of these wines before making a purchase?

  16. A.Yes, Global Wine Tour will hold tasting events from time to time, and everyone on our mailing list will be invited.  If you’d like to be added to our mailing list, please contact us.

  17. Q.Are any of these wines available to taste at Toronto area restaurants?

  18. A.Yes, some of our listed wines are available at various GTA located restaurants.  Please see our wine list for details on which restaurants carry them.

  19. Q.Is Global Wine Tour licensed to sell alchoholic beverages?

  20. A.Global Wine Tour is partnered with the Amethyst Wine Agency Inc., a licensed wine agent in Ontario.  All orders for alcoholic beverages are processed through Amethyst.

  21. Q.How fast do I receive my purchased wine?

  22. A.Orders placed by 10AM for our VQA Ontario Supplier, Mountain Road Wine Company, are delivered by courier on the next business day.  Orders for international wines do take more time due to distances involved.  All orders are processed through the LCBO private ordering system, with shipping times ranging from 1 week to 3 months for some wines.  More details on approximate arrival times is shown on our wine listing.  We hope to get access to the LCBO’s consignment program in the future, and if we do, we’ll be able to carry inventory at their warehouse, enabling us to speed up delivery times.

  23. Q.How do I order wine from your website?

  24. A.Download the applicable order form available on our wine list, fill it out, and either fax it to us, or scan and email it back to us.  If neither of these options are available to you, then the order form can also be mailed.  Canada Post delivers most mail in the GTA within 2-3 business days.

  25. Q.Why can’t I just order online?

  26. A.Your signature is required for all orders.  This may change in the future through the addition of online credit card orders, but it is not available at this time.

  27. Q.Do you have plans to expand your wine listings?

  28. A.We are always on the lookout for new wines from high quality producers.  Stay tuned to our wine listings for updates.

  29. Q.Will any of your wines ever be available for purchase at the LCBO? 

  30. A.From time to time,  we will get our wines on the Vintages listing.  When this occurs, you’ll be able to purchase individual bottles at your local Vintages location.  Once Vintages runs out of this product, you’ll still be able to order it from us in the future (subject to availability)!
