Join wine personality Steve Thurlow, Wine Access Senior Editor, as he leads you on a 12 day excursion of discovery and enjoyment.
Visit wineries and breweries and see some of the world's best preserved Classical architecture. Learn how to cook Czech style, dine in splendid traditional settings at wineries with their winemakers, bathe in the warm autumnal sunshine and enjoy all the facilities of a modern river cruise boat.
Life onboard modern river cruise vessels offers every luxury as we glide with the current along the Danube. Gourmet cuisine with wine and beer, a panoramic forward observation lounge.
Deluxe cruise accommodation in a 170 sq.ft. outside cabin with hotel-style beds and infotainment system with Internet access in every cabin, flat-screen TV, DVD selection, white-on-white plush bedding with down duvets, fluffy bathrobes, and slippers.

In October each year after summer in Toronto, there is plenty of warm sunshine in Budapest; daily highs of 20-22°C and lows of 8-10°C.
Global Wine Tour in co-operation with Wine Access magazine, KLM and AMA Waterways presents an accompanied wine, food and cultural visit to Central Europe, from Prague to Budapest on the Danube. We will explore the leading vineyards, wineries and breweries and be introduced to Czech cuisine under the attention of one of Prague's master chefs during a half day cooking school.

Guided tours are included in Prague, Nuremberg, Regensburg, Passau, Linz, Melk, Vienna and Budapest. There will also be time for individual sightseeing in all these locations. Also included are two virtual tours of the wines of Germany and Austria led on board by Steve Thurlow and visits to two breweries in the Czech Republic and two half day wine tasting excursions one to the Burgenland region south of Vienna and the other to the Melnik wine region in the Czech Republic.

If all this sounds like too hectic a pace, don't worry. There will be time for relaxing in the warm sunshine and wandering around some of the beautiful towns and villages that lie along our route.
The trip price assumes double occupancy in the hotel in Prague and on board in Cat. E cabins on Piano Deck and includes scheduled flights with KLM from Toronto to Prague and returning from Budapest both via Amsterdam. It also includes all hotels, river boat cruise Nuremberg to Budapest, and luxury coach transportation elsewhere. Also included are buffet breakfasts every day, winery visits and tastings, and 18 meals most with wines, all led by Steve Thurlow. The price for the 12 day trip is C$5195* per person assuming double occupancy plus air taxes and fees and port charges. *Included airfare from Toronto is a current estimate, as is the schedule. The price willl be confirmed on or before Dec 31, 2009, once actual airfares and schedule from Toronto are available.
A 50% refundable deposit of US$400 is required to secure a place on the tour. This deposit becomes non-refundable on Feb. 28, 2010. This deposit of US$400 guarantees an assigned stateroom on the boat. Bookings can be accepted until the boat achieves capacity. A further non-refundable deposit of   C$500 is required on March 1st, 2010. Final payment is required 120 days prior to departure.
